We are passionately committed to an intimacy with Christ that compels us to reach the lost and embrace His Kingdom values.
Challenge
We have seen revivals in every century in U. S. history. With this spiritual heritage, we may assume it will happen again. However, a major obstacle of any future revival is the unrelenting distractions that draw our hearts and minds away. Revivalist Charles Finney witnessed incredible moves of God in the nineteenth century but he avoided holding revival meetings during the busy harvest season. Revival can overcome sin, the flesh, and the devil but not distractions. The last nationwide revival was the Jesus People Movement of the 1960s and ’70s. However, this occurred before the Internet, cable TV, and video games were common in our homes.
Unless we intentionally disengage from this culture, we will never experience the deeper things of God. It doesn’t matter how many times we go to the altar or how often pastors pray together. Unless we change our way of life, we will never experience first-century Christianity. I believe this is why the spiritual outpourings in the West are small, transitory, and have minimal impact on the culture. We can no longer afford to assume that God will visit us mightily while we embrace this world’s system.
Vision
